4gb, i could see 6gb or 8gb being useful, any more than that would just be overkill.

6 GB DDR3 RAM. If I wanted to though, in a few months, I could shell out a couple thousand bucks and have 192 GB or RAM but then that's just pointless. To me, anything higher than 6 GB is pretty much worthless since most boards can only handle around 6 GB.
Well, with 192gb of RAM and a decent dual xeon (probably six core if they released such xeon)
you can open more than 3000 tabs with firefox and that would be awesome (/sarcasm off)
But you're right... 6gb is more than enough at the moment since you could (theoretically) watch HD movies + listen to some music + browse with many tabs + play crysis w/o lag (of course you can't try that with onboard graphics though)

I have 1gb on my netbook and 2gb on my dead notebook and 4gb on a desktop that I can't get since I'd be overcharged with taxes since it's on USA (and it's 2 years old

4GB DDR3 RAM... (it's more than enough for me...)
16GB is too much for me... since I'm not using my computer for design or something like that... , which requires higher RAM and VGA

8Gb, up to 24. Having 16 Gb atm is useless.
