MediaFire is free for downloader but downloads are 80 ko/se whereas megaupload in free you get at least 1000 ko/se.

For uploader MF is crappy since they delete too easy the files uploading if no dl.

And finally it is not enought offshore like FileSonic.

But keep in mind there is NO good downloader & uploader host : Direct Download Link will always be a not good system compared to P2P because of cost and system centralization !

I'm not sure where you live but those speeds are messed up. The day I hit 1mb/s with a free megaupload account is the day the earth explodes, I have however hit those speeds with mediafire.

As for the second thing about p2p this is only true when you are talking about free downloads, if you have premium on most hosting sites the speed and stability is way better than p2p.

I really can't see how there's a better download site if your ATTENTION time is limited. As a free user you don't need to juggle the hassle of timers, transparent proxy limitations or just plain daily bandwidth caps. You can do parallel downloads, and I consider it an acceptable price to have some bandwidth management on their end for peak hour users. Of course, the advantages are somewhat mitigated because MF has never really reached critical mass, RS/HF are far more popular in their geographical respective regions and the pay sites tend to have a lockin effect for users.
